This thread is dedicated to helping us figure out what exactly footnotes.social should be (and how to refer to it, I'm not too into just calling it "footnotes.social" forever). Come chat!

My original idea was basically just Disqus, but on ATProto. You add a lightweight component to your website and get free comments w/ no hassle auth and (hopefully) pretty easy moderation. I then realized that if we have all these sites with atprotated comment sections on them, we could also really easily display them all in one link aggregation appview that we could then sort by new, trending, etc. We could even let sites opt into including their site in various feeds if we wanted, like some kind of atprotated webring. Lots of cool things we could do with this, but I want to hear others' ideas.
