Logging in on a dev instance #142

I'm trying to follow the hacking-on-tangled guide, and have the following question: is it recommended to use our own bsky account to log in on the dev server?

if so, it does not work: the login screen responds with "Failed to authenticate. Try again later."

There's a few discussions going on to update the hacking.md.

Here's some environment variables that I use:

TANGLED_DEV=true
APPVIEW_ENDPOINT=http://localhost:3000
TANGLED_OAUTH_JWKS=<genjwks output>
KNOT_SERVER_HOSTNAME=localhost:5555
KNOT_SERVER_SECRET=...
KNOT_REPO_SCAN_PATH=/path/to/test-repos/

Note you don't need to run a knot server for the appview, unless you're interacting with it.

genjwks can be run with go run /cmd/genjwks/main.go and you can just copy the output into your env var. the whole json.

@ok-ciel.bsky.social So you are saying that the login/authentication part should be done through the TANGLED_OAUTH_JWKS envvar?

appview does auth through oauth, and that's a value to do oauth.

update dev docs to reflect this! you will need the env var + redis-server running.
