I'm not personally a huge fan of the GitHub-style gamification. It is one of those features that feels cool, but does get abused, so much so that there are projects available to generate fake GitHub commits to make your graph look better.
Some people definitely enjoy it, but it would be nice to have the option to disable it.

++. I'm a rarely-do-greatly person, may not make a single commit in days, then break up my work into tens (or even hundreds) of commits before publishing
