That's not what this prevents FYI, it just prevents the rebuilding of the derivation -- it is still reset every time you enter a shell. (Though I've never had it rotating log me out.)

it seems ecdsa.GenerateKey is always non-deterministic so preventing rerun via nix is maybe the best way to go about this. non-nix users should just store the value once and avoid re-running to prevent logouts.
